Training Open For First Time on New Santa Anita Dirt Track

Welcome back horsemen!  The long awaited dirt track is back, and so is great thoroughbred racing at Santa Anita Park.  Trainers, jockeys and fans came out this morning to take a look at the new dirt track.  Training began at 4:30am, with horses galloping on the new dirt track, trainers watching with coffee and breakfast from Clockers' Corner and fans enjoying horses being back on the track at Santa Anita.

Track Maintenance Superintendent Richard Tedesco, Project Construction Manager Ted Malloy and the great crew at Santa Anita Park did a marvelous job in getting the track ready the past couple of months, as well as last night as Santa Anita got 3/4" of rain.

Live racing at Santa Anita Park resumes Sunday, December 26 and runs through Sunday, April 17.
